Vida Simon

combines drawing, sculptural objects, gesture, writing, and sound, to create site-responsive installations and durational performances.
Her work has been presented internationally in diverse contexts — galleries, hotel rooms, storefronts, theatres, rooftops, a former synagogue, an old horse stable, an abandoned house, a tiny church… Recent projects include A Very Slow Blue (Île Tatihou, France), Ähnlichkeit (Kunsthalle Lingen, Germany), and Carried Away in collaboration with Jack Stanley (Italy and various locations in Canada). Drawing is a connecting thread throughout her practice, expressing her interests in visual storytelling, improvisation, and embodiment. Her work often highlights the detail, the intimate, and the ephemeral. At NAIRS she intends to focus on the body and cures (historical, personal), with these key words in mind: ritual, reciprocity, coexistence, contingency, and animism. Vida is based in Montreal.
