Cristina Rüesch (*1994) is a Swiss painter and sculptor based in Hamburg. She studied at HfBK Hamburg and akbild in Vienna.
Elements from everyday life, pop culture, as well as (art)historical and mythological figures gather in her painted scenes, sculptural installations, performances and texts. She cares about creating an ambience that oscillates between joyful-„coquette“ (a festive femininity) and ominous disturbing. Tragedy lurks behind a thin curtain. Currently she is interested in aspects of multilingualism and dysfunctional communication (between beings in the here and now, but also across the timeline).
